As operators of a day boat, we recognise our responsibility to protect the delicate ecosystems we operate in and to support the long-term health of our waterways and surrounding wildlife.
Our Commitments
- Pollution Prevention
- We will take all reasonable steps to prevent water, air, and noise pollution from our boat.
- Our diesel engine has been removed and replaced with an electric motor and battery set-up.
- No fueling will now need to be conducted which avoids potential fuel spills into the water.
- Waste Management
- No waste of any kind (litter, sewage, oil, or food waste) will be disposed of into the waterway.
- All rubbish will be securely contained on board and disposed of responsibly on land.
- Recycling facilities are provided at the parish Staithe.
- Wildlife Protection
- Our boat is speed restricted to 5 mph
- We will encourage responsible boating near wildlife, including reduced speeds in sensitive areas.
- We will avoid disturbing nesting birds, aquatic species, and bank vegetation.
- Fishing from our boats will be in accordance with local regulations.
- Sustainable Resource Use
- Environmentally friendly cleaning products and boat maintenance materials will be used.
- Boat onboard battery system has been chosen for energy efficiency and low environmental impact.
- Education and Engagement
- Passengers will be briefed on how they can help protect the waterways, including how to avoid littering and respect wildlife.
